The Royal Crescent - Bath
The Royal Crescent - Bath
One of the most famous and romantic landmarks in Bath, which is regularly used in the Netflix Series Bridgerton and has featured in many films and series over the years.
It has one established ghost story of soprano singer Lady Elizabeth Linley and her elopement, she lived with her family at No 11 (c1772) and the story says of a ghostly carriage and four horses driving at speed, clattering across the cobbles through the Crescent carrying a young Elizabeth and her beau Richard Brinsley.
(Full story on another post)
Allegedly heard and seen.
The spirit of Elizabeth is also said to be heard singing as she walks down the stairs of No 11
There is another story which says of one of the houses (number withheld for privacy) that has a spirit with a dislike for women and any females have difficulty staying there.
Does anyone know of any other stories?
Thoughts -
I am not sure of the frequency of this sighting of the carriage and horses or if any witnesses, or what time period this is supposed to occur, but it would be great to hear of anyone that has had this experience, either seen, or heard the horses & carriage, although if the witness, saw it suddenly, how could they assume that it was in fact Elizabeth and Richard in the carriage, as many a horse and carriage would have driven through there back in the day.
An interesting haunting of which dear readers, we would like to find out more about...
